Colorful houses of Burano | Venice, Italy

Burano is an island with aprox. 2800 residents and it’s famous for its colorful houses. It’s also well known for its lace production which goes back to yr. 1500. The secret why the houses are painted in such vivid colors is because they were easier to find when fishermen were returning home from the sea, often accompanied by thick fog. Today it’s a tradition that puts Burano among the top 10 most colorful cities in the world. I’ve been to Burano a couple of times and I would still love to visit it again. You will find fantastic photo opportunities here and the freshest fish in Venice. Do not leave Venice without strolling through the rainbow streets of this vibrant little island!

You can reach Burano wih vaporetto (sea bus) from Venice in 40 minutes. You can find the timetable here.
